WorldSkills UK Champions
The champion’s network was launched over three years ago initially with nine college Principals representing the nine English geographical regions. Our growing network now represents education, industry and other sectors throughout England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The role of a WorldSkills UK champion is to:
- encourage organisations to get involved in skills competitions activity
- raise the levels of skills in vocational educational training and the aspirations of young people
- increase the number of people participating in WorldSkills UK competitions in the lead up to WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 and beyond
WorldSkills UK Champions have first-hand experience of the benefits of being involved in skills competition activity and this enables them to share their knowledge with colleges and training providers right across the UK.
If you would like to know how getting involved can benefit your learners and your organisation, your first point of contact is our Regional Partnerships Manager, Patrick Gormely - patrick.gormley@apprenticeships.gov.uk, who can direct you to the support of our Regional Leads. They have direct access to employers, colleges and training providers and are perfectly placed to help you to locate training and advice in your area.
